Tips:
Most of our favorite wineries are along the Silverado Trail around St. Helena. Anything marked with an asterisk (*) are our favorites and highly recommended.
Reservations are required for tastings at almost all wineries, and we recommend booking at least 1 month in advance. Tasting fees range $50-$100.
Napa / Carneros
Domaine Carneros
French chateau-style winery specializing in sparkling wines you can enjoy on the terrace overlooking the vineyards, 15 minutes from downtown Napa.
Cuvaison*
Located on a dreamy property in Carneros 15 minutes from downtown Napa, this family-owned winery offers intimate tastings of estate-grown wines in a beautiful tasting room among the vineyards, paired with optional cheese or caviar plates. Their Pinot Noir is excellent.
Ashes & Diamonds Winery
Design-forward tasting room with midcentury accents that offers a range of food and wine experience from a small bites to a full lunch, located 10 minutes from downtown Napa.
Hudson Ranch
Sustainable winery in Carneros offering wine and olive oil tastings amidst the gardens, with hikes and picnics available as an add on. They also offer farm-fresh goodies in their on-site store, Hudson Greens & Goods. Located 15 minutes from downtown Napa.
William Hill Estate
Picturesque 200-acre winery in the Santa Lucia Highlands known for the elegant Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot wines. Located just 15 minutes from downtown Napa.
Yountville
Hope & Grace Wines (tasting room)
This often overlooked boutique tasting room offers intimate tastings of artisanal wines in downtown Yountville. More of a homey vibe.
Stewart Cellars (tasting room)
Family-run tasting room in downtown Yountville designed by esteemed designer Ken Fulk, featuring a friendly, easy-going vibe and onsite cafe and tasting library.
Robert Sinskey
Rustic-chic winery tucked against the hills of the Silverado Trail in the Stags Leap District. They pair their organic wine tastings with homemade treats using ingredients grown on the property and fresh-made pizza from their brick oven.
Stags' Leap
19th-century stone winery and Victorian-era Manor House nestled against the Stags Leap Palisades. This 240-acre property along the Silverado Trail is one of California's earliest wine estates. Their Cabernet is fantastic; in fact, they’re famous for producing the Cabernet that bested the top Bordeaux at the 1976 Judgement of Paris.
Paraduxx
Located on the Silverado Trail, Paraduxx holds the unique distinction of being the only Napa winery devoted exclusively to producing Napa Valley blends. Book the Rector Creek Overlook Tasting to sit outside and enjoy scenic views over the Rector Creek Estate Vineyard and the rugged Vaca Mountain range.
Domaine Chandon
Gorgeous French-style champagne house just outside of downtown Yountville, and America’s largest sparkling wine producer, using traditional French techniques. Not the most high-end wine, but great for sparkling wine lovers who want to relax and enjoy some bubbly in a beautiful garden setting.
Oakville / Rutherford
Cakebread*
One of Napa’s most esteemed wineries, known for their incredible Cabernets. Their recently renovated winery offers a rustic-meets-modern vibe with high ceilings and lots of natural light. Grab a glass and take a stroll through the garden in between tastings.
Inglenook
This elegant, historic chateau owned by Francis Ford Coppola is one of Napa Valley’s most iconic buildings with excellent wines to match.
Peju
Set in a European-inspired estate with beautiful garden grounds, Peju produces wines from organic and sustainably farmed vineyards in Napa.
Frog’s Leap
Frog’s Leap offers a more rustic and down-to-earth setting for tastings than the luxurious, European-inspired wineries Napa is known for. Great for those looking for a more laid-back tasting experience.
Silver Oak Napa Valley
Family-owned winery dedicated to producing only Cabernet Sauvignon, with a location in Alexander Valley as well. You can taste a combination of their Napa and Alexander Valley Cabernets, as well as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir from their Twomey label.
Far Niente
Traditional, old-world style winery estate amidst a lush landscape pouring high-end Cabernets. We recommend the cave tour and library tasting.
Promontory
High-end contemporary winery from the Harlan family with stunning architecture and an exclusive vibe. Here you’re greeted with a glass of Dom Perignon before continuing through the immaculate caves and cellar, finishing in the gorgeous living room. The wine and experience is amazing but tastings are pricey and availability is limited, so book well in advance.

An esteemed, exclusive winery in a beautiful modern-rustic setting. Tastings are pricey but the wine is amazing, some of the best in Napa. If you’re a big wine buff, this is a must. Book well in advance. Located right on Highway 29.
Hall Wines
Award-winning wines in a big modern, art-filled space, with a nice fountain-filled terrace overlooking the vines. Located right on Highway 29. There are two Hall Wines locations: St. Helena and Rutherford.
Quintessa*
Beautiful winery in a serene setting, located right off the Silverado Trail, specializing in organic Bordeaux-style Cabernets. Book the Private Quintessential Experience to enjoy a variety of wines and paired with cheeses and meats in a private open-air pavilion surrounded by vineyard and oak tree covered hills.
Duckhorn
The epitome of a simple yet perfect Napa tasting experience with a lovely patio overlooking the vineyards. Solid Cabernets and Merlos in a laid-back setting. Located right on the Silverado Trail.
Beringer Vineyards
Historic German-inspired property and vineyard with a variety of tasting and tour options that serve as a great introduction to Napa Valley winemaking, located on the same property as the Alila resort.
Spottswoode
Small, family-run, off-the-beaten path winery where you can sample excellent Cabernet and Sauvignon Blanc wines in an intimate setting. Good if you want a smaller, more boutique winery feel.
Long Meadow Ranch
Long Meadow offers unique wine and food experiences. You can visit the tasting bar at Farmstead in St. Helena (no appointment necessary), or if you want a more in-depth wine experience, book a private tour at their winery in the Mayacamas Mountains situated on a 650-acre historic ranch.
Cade Estate
Big reds and scenic valley views at this sleek contemporary winery on Howell Mountain. The wine is great, but most come for the views.

Laid-back modern farmhouse-style winery just off Highway 29 near downtown Calistoga, surrounded by landscaped gardens, lush vineyards, and views of the Calistoga foothills. Great place to taste Sauvignon Blancs and Pinot Noirs.
